Split PDF

Got a massive PDF and only need parts of it? Splitting is way easier than you think. Here is the straightforward way to do it.

1. Upload your PDF. Drop the PDF file you want to split into the upload area. You can also click to browse for it on your computer or phone.
2. Choose how to split. Specify the page ranges for each output file. You can split by every N pages, extract specific pages, or divide into equal parts — whatever makes sense for your document.
3. Confirm and split. Double-check your page ranges make sense, then hit the split button. Everything runs locally so your file stays on your device the whole time.
4. Download your files. You will get individual split PDF files ready to download. Open them up to make sure everything came out right, and you are done.

Desktop PDF editors cost a fortune for something you do twice a year. Write down your page numbers before you start splitting. It sounds obvious, but it is easy to miscount when you are staring at a thumbnail view. Open the PDF in another tab, jot down the ranges you need, then come back and split. Saves you from doing it twice.

You can extract multiple ranges at once. Need pages 1-5 and 12-15 and 22? You do not have to run the tool three times. Just enter all your ranges separated by commas and get all your files in one go.

If you are splitting to reduce file size, try compressing first. Sometimes a PDF is huge because of embedded images and fonts. Compress first, then split — you will get smaller output files.

Name the output files meaningfully right after download. A generic split_output_1.pdf does not tell you anything. Rename them to something like chapter4-7_meeting.pdf the second you download them. Future-you will thank you.
