Rotate PDF

Got a PDF where all the pages are sideways or upside down? Super common with scanned documents. Here is how to fix it in seconds.

1. Upload your PDF. Drop the PDF you want to rotate into the upload area. Any standard PDF works, regardless of page count.
2. Choose rotation direction. Pick which way you want to rotate — 90 degrees clockwise, 90 degrees counterclockwise, or 180 degrees (upside down).

Rotating a PDF is one of those things that should be dead simple, but somehow every PDF reader makes it harder than it needs to be. Fixing sideways scanned documents. The number one use case. You scanned a document and the pages came out sideways because you fed the paper in landscape instead of portrait. Rotate them 90 degrees and everything is normal again.

Fixing upside down pages. Something got flipped somewhere — maybe the scanner, maybe the file got rotated by accident — and now the whole document is upside down. Flip it 180 degrees and you are good.

Adjusting for printing. You need to print a PDF but the pages are oriented wrong for your printer or paper. Rotate them before printing and you get everything coming out the right way.

Making landscape pages readable on phones. You have a wide table or diagram on a landscape page and it is hard to read on a phone screen. Sometimes rotating makes the content bigger and easier to read on mobile.

Know the difference between rotation and orientation. A portrait page rotated 90 degrees is still a portrait page — it is just turned sideways. If you need the actual page dimensions to change (landscape becoming portrait), you need crop or a different tool, not just rotation.

All pages rotate together (usually). Most rotation tools, including this one, rotate every page by the same amount. If you only need one specific page rotated, extract that page first, rotate it separately, then put it back.

90, 180, 270 — those are your options. PDF rotation works in 90-degree increments. You cannot rotate by 2 degrees or 45 degrees or anything in between. If you need fine rotation, you would need to convert to images first and rotate those.

Scanned documents are the number one use case. Most people need to rotate PDFs because they scanned something sideways or upside down. If you scan a lot, get in the habit of checking orientation right after scanning — saves you a step later.
