Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2025

1. Our Core Privacy Commitment

PDFNeo is built with privacy as a fundamental design principle. All file processing happens entirely within your browser — your files are never uploaded to any server, never stored, and never shared with anyone.

When you use any of our PDF tools (merge, split, compress, convert, etc.), everything runs locally on your device using JavaScript libraries such as pdf-lib. Your documents remain under your complete control at all times.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

To be clear, PDFNeo does not:

  • Upload your PDF files or any other documents to any server
  • Store, cache, or retain copies of your files after processing
  • Collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers
  • Require user registration or account creation
  • Track the contents of files you process
  • Share any data with third parties

3. Information We May Collect

3.1 Automatically Collected Technical Data

When you visit our website, your browser may automatically send certain standard information, including:

  • IP address (processed by our hosting provider for serving the website)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Referring URL
  • Pages visited and time spent

This information is collected through standard web server logs and is used solely for maintaining the security and performance of our website.

3.2 Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with our website. Any analytics we use are configured to minimize data collection and respect your privacy. We do not use analytics to track individual users or build user profiles.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 CDN (Content Delivery Network)

We use third-party CDNs (such as unpkg.com) to deliver JavaScript libraries required for PDF processing (e.g., pdf-lib, JSZip). When these resources are loaded, the CDN provider may temporarily log your IP address as part of standard HTTP request processing. We do not control this data collection, but it is typically minimal and governed by the CDN provider's privacy policy.

4.2 Hosting Provider

Our website is hosted on a third-party platform that may process your IP address and basic request data to serve the website. This is standard for any website and is necessary to deliver our service to your browser.

5. Cookies

PDFNeo does not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. For details about any technical cookies that may be used, please see our Cookie Policy.

6. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right to Access — You can request information about any personal data we may hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification — You can request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to Erasure — You can request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to Restrict Processing — You can request that we limit how we use your data.
  • Right to Data Portability — You can request to receive your data in a structured format.
  • Right to Object — You can object to our processing of your personal data.

Given that we process minimal data and do not store user files, exercising these rights is generally straightforward. To make a request, please contact us at the email address listed below.

7. CCPA Compliance (California Users)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected about them
  • Request deletion of their personal information
  • Opt out of the sale of personal information
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising their privacy rights

We do not sell personal information. The information we may collect is limited to basic technical data as described in Section 3.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical measures to protect our website and any data that may be collected. Since your files never leave your device, the security of your documents is inherently protected by your own device's security.

Our website is served over HTTPS to ensure encrypted communication between your browser and our server.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
